O. Henry said, "The true adventurer goes forth aimless and uncalculating to meet and greet unknown fate."
Imagining a joyous existence is usually met with the incompatibility of human nature; while we claim to find meaning in life, we ironically hinder any true movement to our purpose. To have a clear understanding of this, let us use one of O. Henry's short story titled "The Green Door"; It is where the protagonist, found an interesting twist when he discovered aim in aimlessness, It follows Rudolf (the protagonist) having an interest in small but meaningful adventures, in the story a man who spoke no words handed him a small piece of paper, it was titled "The Green Door", and he found himself going in an apartment where a green door stood, driven by his curiosity, he opened it, and there stood a sick and famished woman, kindly he bought and fed her food, at some point the woman asked "how did you happen to come by my door?", he thought about the strange man and he dishonestly spoke "I was looking for someone else," and he returned confused and asked the strange man, he replied by pointing at a theater with a big sign "The Green Door."
To expand, seeking bliss in a world full of facade and chaos felt normal, it doesn't feel alienating at all. Furthermore, the troublesome and pointless stories we experienced or told creates a meaningful and cohesive existence, like the story "The Green Door." Other example is, the library of Babel, where every letter could create words, sentences, and paragraphs, the cure to cancer, the start of a global war, and the description of your death, yet it falls to the chaotic noise of words, but somewhere in there is a meaningful story trapped in an endless abyss of aimlessness.
This was not created to parade a chaotic existence, but to construct a basis for your own trajectory in life, where every turning point is an adventure for better or for worse. "I am the master of my fate; the captain of my soul," a line from Invictus created by William E. Henley. The forever noise of existence and all of space in reality is aimless and unchangeable, yet your story in millions creates a ripple that maybe, you can only understand.
And lastly, maybe just maybe the journey starts with reading this one..........
